Hosting your Data with Advorto

Advorto understands that your data is often your most important asset. You work hard to maintain the integrity of your data, and need to make completely sure that your data is protected from all possible threats. Now that so much data is stored in the cloud, companies have to consider the best way of storing their data to best suit their needs, whether that be a public or private cloud, or physical self-storage.

Hosting options

As a Software-as-a-Service provider we typically host our data in multi-tenant systems. In a multi-tenant system we host many clients on the same hardware, and the separation between their systems is logical, i.e. controlled by software. This is very common practice, but doesn’t suit all clients and often a company wishes to have their data segregated more physically. As a result, for users of our ‘Unlimited’ service, we offer other options. In summary:

»        Private Cloud

We use top-tier data centres from Amazon, Microsoft Azure and Rackspace. Whether you want to keep your data in Europe, the US, Asia, or in a certain jurisdiction to suit your data protection needs, we have a hosting option to suit your business.

Advorto and the public cloud

Public cloud systems offer many advantages for a vendor. As we only run one live version of our software at any one time, we can focus our resources on this single system, meaning notably reduced support costs, and continuous system monitoring with rapid fixes for any breaks.

Initial set up is done virtually– we provide access details to our system via email – there is no need for any installation or site visits before you can get started.

Plus our systems can be integrated with 3rd party applications using an easy to use connector, whether these systems are themselves in the cloud or on premise.

All in all, SaaS delivery is easier, faster and generally has more business impact sooner and cheaper than traditional ‘old-school’ business applications.

Private cloud hosting

The “private cloud” is an incarnation of SaaS that is dedicated to a given client, using infrastructure that is more physically segmented than logically segmented. This is closer to what we used to call a ‘managed service’ – i.e. the client has an element of ownership over the infrastructure, but the vendor manages that equipment on their behalf.

The ‘private cloud’ is a great option for core corporate systems, as it offers some clear benefits over regular SaaS applications: guaranteed data safety, guaranteed latency/throughput and more reliability. It also takes the advantage of shared infrastructure for ancillary services and relieves the IT manager of the ‘physical maintenance’ element of actually running servers in a datacentre.

This has all come about by the virtue of, amongst other things, virtualisation –the ability to deploy a complete private infrastructure virtually, safe in the knowledge that the systems are effectively distinct from other systems.

The Advorto private cloud

Advorto can offer all the benefits of hosted software, with the reassurance of a private cloud model. As well as our public cloud which runs as a “multi-tenant” model, we can also provide a private “single-tenant” model with private LANs and enterprise-grade VPN connectors.

We provide a dedicated Amazon AWS stack of servers that enables us to create a private implementation of any Advorto system. These servers have dedicated resources and their performance can be scaled up or down as necessary.

We employ Amazon's virtual networking service to connect all of your private application servers along with an endpoint connector dedicated to your network. The application is made available to your end-users across this VPN. This connection is firewalled and traffic across it is secured further using HTTPS to your users’ browsers. Your users will then access the application using a browser seamlessly.

The private cloud is a great option for core corporate systems as it offers improved comfort in terms of data segregation. It also takes the advantage of shared infrastructure for ancillary services and relieves the IT team of the ‘physical maintenance’ element of actually running servers in a datacentre.

On premise hybrid

For those not happy to move to their data to the cloud, we also offer a hybrid service – where the vendor hosts the application, plus all of the data, but Advorto would host some ancillary elements.

Examples of these ancillary elements are as follows:

»        PDF generation from source documents

»        Integration connectors

»        Use of Google geolocation and mapping services

»        Charting providers

»        Automated background tests

»        Email queuing services

»        Remote monitoring

The ancillary services would be hosted on our public cloud as they do not store data, they simply provide services to the main applications.

Conclusion

Whatever your data hosting needs and preferences, Advorto has a service to suit you. We can offer private cloud solutions offering the best of both worlds: an enterprise-class system, run under a managed service contract but with increased assurances over privacy and availability.
